Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero has signed Executive Order 32-2021 which provides guidelines to all local government units (LGUs) in the province in support of the Bakunahan, Bayanihan National COVID-19 Vaccination Days from November 29 to December 1.
In the EO, Escudero affirmed the provincial government’s full support for the three-day vaccination drive nationwide, in accordance with Presidential Proclamation 1253 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
During the three-day vaccination campaign, the government is targeting to inoculate some 15 million eligible Filipinos across the country.
“The provincial government of Sorsogon fully supports this endeavor and aims to guide its operation in the province having earlier issued guidelines on the ramping-up of vaccination activities locally,” the governor said in the EO he signed on November 24, 2021.
Escudero directed all mayors to extend full support for the simultaneous vaccination rollout and encourage all government offices, agencies and the LGUs to assign and/or allow all of their respective healthcare workers to participate in the event.
As per the EO, the province targets to vaccinate 53,586 Sorsoganons daily from its 14 municipalities and one city during the three-day vaccination drive.
As of November 23, Sorsogon has vaccinated 60 percent of its target population or equivalent to some 356,433 individuals.
“We will reach 65% full vaccination of our population by mid-December since we started getting our ‘fair share’ of vaccines in October or in less than three months,” Escudero said.
From March 2021, when the vaccine rollout started in Metro Manila, until last September, Sorsogon received 5,000 doses only per month from the national government. However, the province saw an increase of COVID-19 vaccine allocation in October to 50,000 doses every week.
“Patuloy ang ating maigting na kampanya upang makahikayat pa ng mga magpapabakuna at nang mas tumaas pa ang bilang ng mga bakunado sa lalawigan bago matapos ang kasalukuyang taon,” Escudero said.
