BICOL-BASED BHW PARTYLIST ENDORSES CHIZ’S SENATORIAL CANDIDACY

Another political group from the Bicol region, the Bayani Hanggang Wakas (BHW) Partylist, has added its voice to the growing support for the senatorial candidacy of Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero.

In a statement, the Legaspi City-based party-list group said it was endorsing the veteran lawmaker’s senatorial comeback for his effective handling of the COVID-19 health crisis in the province of Sorsogon.

“The BHW Partylist wishes to express its support to the Senate comeback of Governor Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero. We are one with Governor Escudero’s position to solve the public health problems of the country brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said the group whose main advocacy is “Sigurado ang Kalusugan ng Barangay.”

“His impeccable reign as a two-term senator prior to him becoming Governor of the Province of Sorsogon has given him both the legislative and executive perspective that will be very useful if he will be given a chance to serve as senator once again,” it added.

BHW, which is participating in the May national elections, is representing barangay health workers, medical frontliners and the marginalized Filipinos.

The party-list group expressed confidence that with the Escudero’s proven track record both as a legislator and a local chief executive, “the country will once again have an exceptional legislator in the Senate.”

Recently, Escudero also received the endorsement of the Alliance for Resilience Sustainability and Empowerment (ARISE) and the Kusog Bikolandia, which are all based in Region V, and party-list organizations An Waray and Magdalo. The 200,000-strong Federation of Free Farmers (FFF), one of the biggest non-government organizations in the country, is also supporting his Senate run.

The tandems of Senator Ping Lacson and Senate President Tito Sotto, Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Kiko Pangilinan, and Senator Manny Pacquiao and Rep. Lito Atienza have adopted Escudero in their senatorial slates.

UniTeam vice-presidential candidate and incumbent Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte and mayors from CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) and Eastern Samar who belong to the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) have likewise endorsed Escudero.
