ON THE 108TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE PHILIPPINE SENATE

As we commemorate the 108th anniversary of the Philippine Senate, we look back and celebrate the enduring legacy of this esteemed institution in shaping the democratic landscape of our nation.

Since its establishment in 1916, this august chamber has been a bastion of the people’s sovereignty and a guardian of the nation’s legislative process.

Over the years, the Senate has played a pivotal role in the enactment of laws that have propelled the country’s development and safeguarded the rights and welfare of its citizens. It has been a platform for rigorous debate, thoughtful deliberation, and decisive action on matters of national importance.

More than a century later, the Senate’s commitment to the principles of democracy, transparency, and accountability has remained steadfast. Its members, past and present, have carried the immense responsibility of representing the diverse voices of the Filipino people from all corners of the archipelago, ensuring that their aspirations and concerns are addressed through the legislative agenda.

As we celebrate this milestone, we honor the contributions of all the senators—past and present. Their collective efforts have significantly influenced the course of the nation’s history, steering it towards progress and inclusivity.

We also pay tribute and thank the Senate employees for their dedication and selfless public service to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the legislative process. Their unwavering commitment and hard work behind the scenes are crucial in supporting the Senate’s mission to serve the Filipino people.

The 108th anniversary is not only a time for celebration but also for introspection. It is an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the values that the Senate stands for and to envision a future where it continues to be a cornerstone of Philippine democracy.

Let this anniversary serve as a reminder of the Senate’s vital role in nation-building and as an inspiration for all Filipinos to actively participate in the democratic process.

As this year’s anniversary theme “Maka-Diyos, Makabayan, Makatao” states, let us work for a Senate that upholds the values of faith, patriotism, and humanity. Let us strive for a legislative body that champions the rights and welfare of every Filipino.

Happy 108th anniversary to our Philippine Senate! Mabuhay ang demokrasya at ang sambayanang Pilipino!
