Nanawagan si Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero sa Department of Health (DOH) at Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases na maging transparent at parehas sa kanilang alokasyon at distribusyon ng COVID-19 vaccines sa buong bansa.
Sa isang pahayag na ipinost niya sa kanyang Twitter account na @saychiz, binigyang-diin ni Escudero na dapat na maging batayang prinsipyo ng gobyerno ang “transparency, accountability and fairness” sa pagpapatupad nito ng programang imyunisasyon.
“Governance is all about allocating scarce resources. Given that vaccines are a scarce resource, it’s just allocation is a matter of good governance where transparency, accountability and fairness should be the guiding principles,” bigay-diin ng dating senador.
“Simply put…the allocation and distribution of vaccines should be equitable, efficient, ethical and transparent! Good governance dictates nothing less on the allocation of this scarce resource – the vaccines,” pagpapatuloy niya.
Tinapos ng gobernador ang kanyang tweet sa pagsasabi ng: “I pray that DOH/IATF will follow and adopt these principles.”
Ayon kay Escudero, makakatulong sa sabay-sabay na pag-abot sa herd immunity at tuluyang pagluwag ng mga restriksiyon sa pagbibiyahe at kalakalan sa bansa ang patas at pantay-pantay na distribusyon ng bakuna.
“We should achieve herd immunity together so that travel within the country will no longer be restricted, as well as the free flow of goods and services in order to revive our fledgling economy,” anang beteranong mambabatas. “’Di ba nga ‘we heal as one,’ and not ‘us first before you or you first before us.’”
Nauna nang nagpaumanhin si IATF vaccine czar Carlito Galvez dahil sa nahinto ang pagbibigay ng first dose ng ilang lungsod sa Metro Manila dahil kinulang sa suplay mula sa pambansang gobyerno.
Sinabi rin ni Galvez na tina-target ng gobyerno na gawing 7 milyon mula 5 milyon ang mga Pilipinong fully vaccinated ngayong Hulyo. Sa 9.04 milyong katao na naka-first dose, tanging 2.92 milyon pa lamang ang naka-second dose, aniya.
Noong isang linggo, pinagpaliwanag ni Escudero ang DOH-Region 5 sa kung bakit ipamamahagi sa probinsiya ng Albay at mga siyudad ng Legazpi at Naga ang malaking bulto ng 36,800 vials ng bakuna na dumating sa Bicol.
“I hope DOH CHD 5 can explain why 54% of the vaccine allocation is going to Albay and Naga and only 46% will be distributed to the remaining five provinces of Bicol where over 70% of the population live,” post ni Escudero sa kanyang Twitter account.
