Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero today expressed his gratitude to Vice President Leni Robredo, who announced his inclusion in her senatorial slate as part of the latter’s “broad coalition” in the May 2022 National Elections.
At the same time, Escudero thanked Robredo and her running mate Senator Francis ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan for supporting his senatorial bid and believing in the advocacies that he intends to bring to the Senate.
“I am deeply honored to be included in the Vice President’s senatorial lineup. Ako po ay nagpapasalamat kay VP Leni at Senator Kiko sa pag-eendorso sa aking kandidatura. Nakakataba ng puso na makuha ang kanilang suporta,” said Escudero, who is seeking a return to the Senate, which he had served for two full terms.
“I am one with them in advocating inclusion, clean government and good governance,” the veteran legislator added.
Aside from the Vice President, Escudero is also being endorsed by the tandem of Senator Ping Lacson and Senate President Tito Sotto under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC); and the team of Senator Manny Pacquiao and BUHAY Party List Rep. Lito Atienza.
Escudero, a consistent top pick in various pre-election surveys, said he is running again for the Senate to offer his long years of experience as a public servant to the next administration in solving a slew of economic and public health problems set off by the outbreak of COVID-19.
“As I have already said, tayo naman ay nagkakaisa sa ating hangarin na makapaglingkod ng tapat sa ating mga kababayan regardless of our political affiliation. Sa dami ng problema na kinakaharap ang bansa, all hands are on deck dapat,” he pointed out.
In case elected again to the Senate, Escudero said he would push for legislation that would strengthen and empower local government units (LGUs), owing it to his experience as governor of Sorsogon.
“The LGUs should have greater representation in the Senate. And I intend to be one of their strongest allies and advocates,” Escudero said.
