An Waray, a party-list with strong influence in Eastern Visayas (Region VIII), has declared its all-out support for the senatorial bid of Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero in the upcoming May National Elections.
The endorsement was personally relayed to Escudero by incumbent Party-list Rep. Florencio “Bem” Noel, whose group even produced a campaign ad for the veteran legislator now seeking a fresh six-year term in the Senate.
According to its website, An Waray Party List is a “democratic multisectoral party-list organization that envisions a just, progressive and peaceful Filipino society characterized by its principles katilingban (sense of community), kahimyang (peace) and kauswagan (progress) through the adoption of a community-based and peace-oriented development agenda.”
An Waray’s endorsement is the latest addition to the growing list of political groups, candidates and incumbent officials backing Escudero’s senatorial candidacy under the legislative agenda of empowering local government units and transitioning the country to economic recovery post-pandemic.
Partylists ARISE, Ang Kabuhayan, Kusog Bikolandia and Magdalo have already committed to give their solid support for the seasoned legislator, a two-termer senator before he was elected governor of Sorsogon province in 2019.
Last year, the tandems of Senator Ping Lacson and Senate President Tito Sotto; Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Kiko Pangilinan; and Senator Manny Pacquiao and Rep. Lito Atienza have adopted Escudero, a consistent topnotcher in various independent pre-election surveys, in their senatorial slates.
UniTeam vice-presidential candidate and incumbent Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte also endorsed Escudero, as well as mayors of CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) and Eastern Samar belonging to the League of Municipalities of the Philippines or LMP.
