I join the rest of the Filipino people in congratulating our very own Hidilyn Diaz for winning the weightlifting event that gave the Philippines its first-ever gold medal since the first modern world Olympics in 1896 and the first time “Lupang Hinirang,” our national anthem was ever played in the quadrennial games.
Her victory at the Tokyo Olympics is indeed the best news in recent months for the nation that has been facing a lot of challenges in many fronts.
The road to the Olympics was not easy.
The Gold Medal is a shining testament to Hidilyn’s strength and courage that ultimately brought honor to the Philippines and the Filipino people – nasaan man sila sa mundo.
May her early victory inspire her fellow Pinoy athletes competing in the Olympics as we pray and cheer for the Philippine Olympics team.
Thank you, Hidilyn! You are indeed the best for us and in the world.
