Until his final days, Juan Ponce Enrile served in government as Chief Presidential Legal Counsel, a testament to his unwavering dedication to our country and people.
For much of my first Senate term (2007–2013), JPE was Senate President. To us who were then new in the chamber, he was like a father, instilling the values of discipline and service.
When I assumed the Senate presidency, I was proud to sponsor Senate Resolution No. 1223, honoring JPE for his long and distinguished service. With his passing, the nation has lost a true son of the Republic.
I extend my deepest condolences to Mrs. Cristina Ponce Enrile, their children and grandchildren, and the entire family.
Manong Johnny, rest in peace.
