ON WORLD FOOD DAY

I, together with the people of Sorsogon, join the rest of the nation in the observance of the United Nations’ World Food Day 2021 with the theme “Our actions are our future- better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life.”

The UN, through its Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), could not have chosen a better theme to emphasize the importance food security.

We are fully behind the UN’s goal of building “a sustainable agri-food system in which a variety of sufficient, nutritious and safe foods is available at an affordable price to everyone, and nobody is hungry or suffers from any form of malnutrition.”

Looking after the welfare of our farmers will be a solid manifestation of our commitment to champion food security through a robust agriculture, and in ensuring a future generation of Filipinos that is free from hunger.
